I am a newcomer to the South. As a migrant frmo the northeast, there has surely been a culture shock following my move here. Now, I must admit, being the political junkie I am, I cannot resist talking politics, even with hard core republicans.
Here are some interesting vantage points from a red state:
I have met this within the republican party so far, pretty much not seen back in the northeast as easily for me:
Elderly white man, nice as can be, talk about why McCain being a military man, makes him much better suited to protect and defend the US. And that we have to take the fight to them, not sit back and let thins happen to us.
Doctors who dont want their taxes raised, and medicare benefits CUT.
Social conservative Christian women who want family values, ban on abortion, pro life.
Also: Racist men and women, who couldnt think of ever voting for a black man.
Thoughtful moderate republican women who want change, but are unsure of obamas experiecne. also afraid he'll raise taxes, and they cant afford that. Think mcCain's experience will be better for america.
Undecideds who are struggling and desperately want to vote obama, but have lots of peer pressure, as obama voters are hard to find.
Some are still there waiting to be convinced.
